regrets, i've had a few
but then again, too few to mention
for what is a man, what has he got
if not himself, he is naught

NAME
Gregory House. However strange it may seem, he prefers to be referred by his last name, and rarely uses a persons' first name when conversing with them.

FANDOM
House is the title character from House MD.

AGE
Though House is already graying and looks older than he actually is, he's living quite comfortably for a fourty-five year old. Age is only a number, after all, and you're as young as you feel. (Note: He is younger than he is in canon)

PLAYED BY
Hugh Laurie

SUPPLANT
TBA

PROFESSION
Greg is a talented and very successful musician, focusing on piano. He plays at a five star Italian restaurant downtown, though from time to time he gets booked to play jazz clubs and other such places. He also is the head of the musical department at Harmony University, and teaches many music related classes, including orchestra, choir, and private lessons involving both of these.

SEXUAL PREFERENCE
House is very obviously straight. He is not above making sexist, crude, or insensitive comments when it comes down to it. He mixes it up between homophobic and jibes at his own sexuality, but he's nonetheless straight as an arrow.

APPEARANCE
House is a handsome man, all in all. But he is gruff, and a little haggard. His once dark hair is now pretty well laced with gray, though surprisingly thick. He doesn't care much for shaving and because of this, he often has the scruff of a five o'clock shadow. He's got piercing blue eyes that can pin you in your place, and one might argue that they're pretty attractive, though House isn't exactly the kind of guy that holds hands and lets you stare at his eyes. His mouth is almost perpetually in a smirk, as if he's amused by the world, or at least the world that revolves around him. His face has many lines and deepset strokes that tell of a hard life, though he will joke openly that his life was boring as hell. He's pretty tall, hedging near to six foot, and he's jogged all his life, which has kept him pretty fit.

As for clothing, House doesn't pay a lot of attention to his clothes. They're often wrinkled and not always does he match them well. When being casual, you could catch him in anything from jeans to khakis, and he has an affection for band t-shirts and leather jackets. While working, he dresses a little more formally -- button up shirts, tailored pants, nice sweaters. He loves colorful sneakers, and has more than he could ever need hidden in his house.

PERSONALITY
House takes some real getting used to. He is selfish, angry, and bitter. He will say anything that pops into his head. It's not that he doesn't think about what he is doing -- he thinks everything through, from start to finish. However, in the end, he doesn't care about how it will affect others. He can be cruel, callous, and rude, and you'll never hear him apologize for it. He will be sexist, racist, and demeaning all in the same conversation. However, that doesn't mean that he's sexist or racist, he just enjoys tormenting people and seeing what kind of reaction he can get.

He's an insanely intelligent individual, and this can be easily observed by just listening to him or engaging him in conversation. However, his general lack of compassion gains him many enemies and not many people understand or appreciate his dark and particularly caustic brand of humor.

Deep down, House is a good man. He is honest person, though that is not to say he won't lie to you, and often. When people get close, he has problems letting them go. He can be overbearing, protective, and bothersome to those he really care about, and often times, they get the harsher brunt of his personality. He's wary of being alone, but in the end, thinks it is what he deserves.

but through it all, i stood tall, and did it my way

HISTORY
House is the product of a Marine Corps Pilot and a quiet housewife. He moved around a lot when he was younger, and enjoyed being able to see so many different places. His favorites included Japan and Egypt. His father was cruel, and saw fit to punish his son in ways that were considered acceptable at the time, but that now would be considered abuse. He hated his father with a passion, however, he holds a lot of respect and love for his mother.

House went through medical school at John Hopkins and was regarded for his medical brilliance. It was there he met his only serious girlfriend, Stacey Wagner. They had moved in together when he suffered an injury that proved to be very serious. House refused to allow treatment that would limit the use of his leg, instead opting to endure massive amounts of pain in hopes of the condition relieving itself. He also opts to be put into a medically induced coma to keep him from living the pain, and Stacey working as his medical proxy authorized a surgery that took out parts of leg. He was never able to forgive her for this and cut her out of his life. From that day forward, he lived on a cane and pain medication.

House works as the head of a primary diagnostician at Princeton Plainsboro. He has always had a team underneath him. He is highly regarded as a brilliant doctor that can help to heal people that nobody else could help.

IN-GAME HISTORY
Unlike his cannon history, the memories House retains of Harmony are far less interesting. He was born into a loving family. His parents were Catholic, and he always found it bothersome to have to drag through church services. His father died when Gregory was about 15, and he surprises himself by the lack of emotion that this fact arouses in him. He loves his mother, though she can be bothersome, and sees her only about once a month, though she will call him from time to time wanting to 'catch up'.

Greg has been playing the piano since he was five. He's always been good with music, able to sing and pick up instruments with little provocation. However, he was a good boy and graduated college with a degree in Musical Arts. He's currently the head of the music department, running three or four classes a semester.

About twenty years back, Greg had a fling with a student that he never really expected to go anywhere. She was pretty, witty, and not afraid to say her mind. To say the least, their relationship was fairly taboo, considering how much younger she was (18, to his then 25), and the fact that she had been his student when they had met. Despite that, their relationship lasted for awhile, until his worst nightmare was realized, and the girl became pregnant.

The relationship was quickly ended. However, House made clear that he would provide for the child if indeed the girl wanted to keep it. He would perhaps show up on birthdays, administer gifts at Christmas and meaningful events. And the woman, not sure of Greg's fatherly capacity, agreed to the arrangement. He thought that everything would be fine, until he got to the hospital that fateful night. Something was terribly wrong, and the birth was not going as planned. By the end of the night, the girl was dead, and the baby was in his charge.

To say he was the classic father would be an inaccurate assessment. He tended to be more stark and harsh than most. He never attempted to find a 'mother' for Jennifer (named after her mother, whose middle name had been Jennifer), but he always showed up when it was required of him. Parent teacher night, plays, recitals. And Jennifer always was well provided for. He is notably softer around her, and obviously cares about her and her well being. One thing that tends to frustrate him is her rather weak-willed nature, because one thing you could never accuse Greg House of being is weak-willed. Jennifer has followed in his footsteps into the music program at Harmony University, and though she doesn't have the raw talent her father has, House considers her one of his best students.
